The
medical, dental, vision, life insurance, property coverage and general liability
coverage rates for the fiscal year
2006/2007 will NOT increase. Effective
July 1, 2006, the Premier Plus, Premier, Standard, Basic and High Deductible
Health Plans 1, 2 and 3 annual individual lifetime maximum benefit will increase
from $5 million dollars to $6 million
dollars. The
Delta Dental Premier program has also been enhanced with an additional $250
added to the annual benefit when you use the services of a Delta DPO/PPO
dentist. For an example, if you
have an annual maximum of $2,000 you have an additional $250 to use above your
annual maximum, if you use a Delta DPO/PPO dentist. The
vision program continues to provide one of the highest frame allowances
available with a $50 wholesale frame allowance.
This relates to a retail price of approximately $125 - $150 for frames
and covers a majority of frames available. TCSIG
also contracts with Kaiser Permanente HMO which is only available to those who
live or work in the Kaiser service area. The
Kaiser tiered rates increased 12% effective July 1, 2006.
The Kaiser composite rate was formerly set at the tiered family rate;
however, for fiscal year 2006/2007 Kaiser agreed to a composite (blended) rate
which is 26% lower than the current composite rate. Keep
the Good News Coming One
way to keep the good news coming is to use your benefits wisely.
Use generic drugs whenever possible.
Ask your doctor questions and become an informed healthcare consumer. Make use of your other benefits like the Employee Assistance
Program (EAP) which provides counseling, legal assistance, financial advice, and

NMHC
Mail Prescription Delays
Hurricane Wilma has caused massive damage across southern Florida. Because of
sound planning and preparation, the NMHC Mail Facility in Miramar sustained
little if any damage. Their triple redundant systems are up and running on
alternative power sources. The facility is open for business and associates are
able to work. However, there will be slight delays (2-3 days) in the delivery of
prescriptions to our members utilizing NMHC Mail. The primary delays are caused
by service interruptions from the postal service and the phone company.
All prescriptions received prior to the loss of the phone company services
(including multiple voice and data connections) have been processed. With the
aid of the Call Center staff in Latham, all prescriptions delivered via faxes
and the Internet have been received by the mail facility and are ready to be
processed. NMHC Mail Order
Pharmacy In addition to the mail order pharmacy, Tri-County Schools Insurance Group will also be using NMHC's Specialty Pharmacy, Ascend. Specialty pharmaceuticals are typically used to treat chronic conditions and are often injectible medications. The NMHC/Ascend pharmacy has specialized expertise and care management plans to help patients use these complex medications properly. Select the highlighted areas for detailed information. The Joint Powers Board adopted the rates for 2005-06 to become effective July 1, 2005. In addition, they also adopted three Health Savings Account Qualified High Deductible Health Plans. Disease Management - Tri- County Schools Insurance Group is pleased to introduce Disease Management. Disease Management is a free health care information service provided by Delta TeamCare in conjunction with your Tri-County Schools Insurance Group health care program. It is Tri County Schools Insurance Group’s way of helping you improve your health. Domestic Partners - State law Family Code 297.5 has been amended effective January 1, 2005, requiring that registered domestic partners have the same rights, protections and benefits, and shall be subject to the same responsibilities, obligations, and duties under the law as are granted to and imposed upon spouses. The Tri-County Schools Insurance Group’s Executive Committee had the law firm of Duncan, Ball and Evans, review the statutes and it was their opinion that TCSIG is not exempt because of our status as a self-insured benefit program; therefore, the Executive Committee authorized, effective January 1, 2005, the eligibility of an employee’s domestic partner and the children of a domestic partnership.
Vioxx - Merck
announced a voluntary worldwide withdrawal of Vioxx a popular arthritis
